Rip Maya Angelou

Poet and author Maya Angelou died today at the age of 86. We celebrate her contributions with a few of our favorite quotes of hers!

"If you don't like something, change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude!"

"We may encounter many defeats,
but we must not be defeated."

"Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue
with consistency. We can’t be kind, true,
merciful, generous, or honest.”

"I got my own back."

"Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told: 'I'm with you kid. Let's go.' "

“I don’t know how much longer I’ll be around. I’ll probably be writing when the Lord says, ‘Maya, Maya Angelou, it’s time.’ ”

And, today the Lord called her name. RIP Maya Angelou.
Thank you for sharing all your words of wisdom!

Hullabaloo Festival in Tucson

According to Merriam- Webster Dictionary Hullabaloo is as follows:
hul·la·ba·loo
 noun \ˈhə-lə-bə-ˌlü\
: a very noisy and confused situation
: a situation in which many people are upset and angry about something

Recently (April 5-6) we participated in Tucson's very first Hullabaloo festival at Armory Park. You can visit the website here: tucsonhullabaloo

Outlaw Kitty at HullabalooI must say, the festival was anything but a place where people were upset and angry. It was really more like a bunch of hippies and gypsies hanging out in the park. Regardless, I like the name. It's fun and there was a bit of hooplah going on including giant puppets, bouncy castles and a petting farm.

The giant puppets paraded about the park accompanied by laughing and dancing children. It was all very joyful.

We even saw a Capybara at Hulaballoo. It's considered the largest rodent in the world and is indigenous to Brazil. This one was only 4 months old. They can weigh up to 150 lb. it was the sweetest loving lap animal ever!

The original Hullabaloo began in Flagstaff and is a much larger and more seasoned show. If you can, check out Hullabaloo in Flagstaff this June 2014. Click here for more info: flaghullabaloo

There was a lot going on the weekend the festival was held, so the turnout wasn't as strong as we all hoped, but they'll be back crazier than ever next year, so plan on looking for the show some time in 2015.
